New York Times writer loans business column to sustainability

Today, Eduardo Porter began his weekly column in the business section of the New York Time by asking, “Who would have thought the United States would one day be a leader in cutting greenhouse gas emissions?” From there Porter uses the lengthy and thoughtful piece to analyze the way the U.S. is succeeding and failing in the effort to increase sustainability. Despite a national discourse that ignores or undercuts issues like global warming, Porter points out, “when President Obama talked about the nation’s energy revolution during his State of the Union address last month, he could have boasted that American emissions of CO2 had fallen almost 13 percent since 2007.
